New tax initiative to help the not-for-profit sector

The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) has developed a new initiative to help not-for—profit organisations understand their tax obligations and entitlement to tax concessions.
Over the next few months the ATO will be calling a selection of not-for-profit organisations that recently obtained an Australian business number and that do not use the services of a tax agent.

Topics of discussion will include non-profit status, income tax exemption, deductible gift recipient status, goods and services tax obligations and concessions, and employer obligations.
