Makinson & d’Apice Lawyers has commissioned a large-scale independent survey of charities, churches, foundations and community organisations to capture their views on the legal issues which they face.
Managing Partner Nancy Bramley-Moore said “This research will take the temperature on stakeholder views.
“This is an important opportunity for diverse third sector leaders and stakeholders to have their say about many challenges they confront.
“This is particularly timely in light of the Federal Government’s recently announced plans to establish a not-for-profit (NFP) regulator.”
The study will focus on five key areas: governance, planning and funding, trusts and bequests, business management and stakeholder engagement.

It will canvas several thousand NFP executives, board members and other leaders from a wide variety of organisations and interest groups in Australia.
The study will be conducted by independent consultants.
Participants will receive a free summary of the research findings upon request so they can benchmark their experience against others in the sector.
The survey will be running until mid-March 2011, with the results to be available at the end of March/mid-April.
Along with receiving a free summary of research findings, participants will also go into the draw for a $1,000 donation to their organisation.
All information collected will remain strictly confidential. Participants’ individual information will only be available to the researchers and used to provide participants with a copy of research findings and enter them in the draw.
