Wed, 5 May 2010
The Federal Minister for Housing Tanya Plibersek has released a discussion paper entitled the Regulation and Growth of the Not-For-Profit Housing Sector.
This paper addresses the role of regulation in protecting the interests of tenants, funders and housing providers, and the need to strengthen the provision of Indigenous community housing.
Minister Plibersek said “I welcome a robust public debate on the growth and regulation of a not-for-profit housing sector that can contribute more effectively to growth in affordable housing supply and that delivers high-quality services to tenants.”
Submissions are encouraged from those with an interest in affordable rental housing and the role of the community housing sector.
A representative for Minister Plibersek said that a series of public consultations have also been scheduled to further promote new ways of thinking and to seek input from the sector and other interested parties.
